If your searching for a french version of IE 8 RC1 in 64-bit you can forget it. I don’t know why, but Microsoft didn’t publish any (only a 32-bit).
You can’t install the 32-bit version on your Vista x64, so you’ll have to install the 64-bit english version from Microsoft Download.
Strangely enough there was a french version of IE 8 Beta 2 in 64-bit. What is the difference between Beta 2 and RC 1 that made MS drop the french in 64-bit ?
By the way if you had any scripting problems with BETA 2 (InternetExplorer.Application object), I strongly recommend upgrading to RC 1.

Quick Parts exist both in Outlook and Word, and allow you to save pieces of content to easily re-use, like the introductory text at the beginning of the Living in Outlook series, as you see in this post. Personally I like to use Quick Parts for all those answers that I repeat over and over again, and am tired of re-typing. I also have a few Quick Parts that contain holiday messages and images that I like to reuse.

Some days ago, Microsoft announced the details of the new Windows 7 SKUs. I was quite surprised when I read about the features that will be made exclusive to the Enterprise edition, some of which are among the most frequently discussed enhancements. As it is likely that most organizations will use Windows 7 Professional, the successor to Windows Vista Business, most admins will never see those popular features. I recently stumbled across Microsoft’s Windows 7 Enterprise page, which has more information, and I can’t help myself from commenting on this issue.

Fine citizens of the Virtualization Nation: I present to you the Windows® Image to Virtual Hard Disk Converter, or WIM2VHD as I like to call it.
WIM2VHD is a tool that will create a bootable VHD from a specified Windows 7 or 2008 R2 WIM image (like the INSTALL.WIM file that ships on the installation DVDs) without having to run Windows Setup. That means that you can a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 virtual machine up and running much, much faster.
You can use these VHDs in Virtual PC, Virtual Server, Hyper-V, and … some other things, too. We’ll talk more about that later.

GPOExIm is a simple tool used to tailor the existing settings in GPOs and Backed up GPOs in your domain. With the announcement of the December 2008 Cumulative Update and the changes in the software update model it brings, we felt it was a good time to revisit the topic of slipstreaming. I know adTempus v3.0.5 is available for some time now, but yesterday I took the time to upgrade our server.
Every thing went fine except that :
- The console took a very long time to start and even when the window appear the icon of my server stays gray (inaccessible) for almost a minute.
- The application event log on the server shows a lot of event id 1737 : Starting up database ‘adtempus_XXXXXX’.
- The SQL server log also show a lot of the following events :
- SQL Server has encountered 12 occurrence(s) of cachestore flush for the 'Object Plans' cachestore (part of plan cache) due to some database maintenance or reconfigure operations.
- SQL Server has encountered 12 occurrence(s) of cachestore flush for the 'SQL Plans' cachestore (part of plan cache) due to some database maintenance or reconfigure operations.
- SQL Server has encountered 12 occurrence(s) of cachestore flush for the 'Bound Trees' cachestore (part of plan cache) due to some database maintenance or reconfigure operations.
- Starting up database 'adtempus_XXXXXX’.
I found a solution :
- First install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (MSSMSE) on your atTempus server
- Open a connection to the SQL Server Express with (MSSMSE)
- Open the properties dialog of the adtempus database
- Select the options page
- Set the ‘Auto Close’ option to false
- Restart SQL Server and adTempus
Just for the record, while I was searching for a solution I tried to run the ‘adTempus Database Installation and Configuration wizard’ (adtdbconfig). This was a bad idea.
The wizard remove the ‘Integrated Security’ parameter from the connection string of the adTempus service, as a result, after that the service refused to start. I had to fixed that manually in the registry
A vulnerability has been identified with MD5 hashing that would allow an attacker to basically impersonate any SSL-secured website on the Internet. This is going to have serious and far-reaching implications. Combine that with the number of computers out there that are compromised by some virus or malware that has hijacked the hosts file, and it would be pretty easy to start collecting credit card numbers, bank account info, etc. You can read the full details here.
